Leo had been having a lazy Sunday in his green silk pajamas when Henry had banged on his door to invite him to a meeting of the First Husbands Club on the hotel patio at 1pm.

He vaguely remembered Griff mentioning something about taking Noble, Gregor and Presley out to lunch for some kind of shareholders meeting today to talk about the state of the hotel as they were about to wrap up their first season as business partners. Julian and Drake, even though they were employees of the hotel were not invited since they weren’t co-owners of the business.

When Leo arrived, a fashionable five minutes late, all of the other guys were already there.

“Leo, we were just getting ready to send out a search party to look for you. Henry said you were still in your pajamas. Rough morning?”

Leo stuck his tongue out at Henry. It wasn’t very lady-like of him, but he was feeling tired and out of sorts this morning.

He’d been true to his word last night and hadn’t read any of Captain Benson’s other letters, but he had re-read the first one several more times.

He’d also spent a good hour, possibly two, staring at the picture of Ezekiel and Jeremiah. They had both been so young and handsome when that picture had been taken. So full of life, and now that he’d had some time to reflect, obviously full of love for each other.

Had the young men met each other in Hyannis prior to sailing on The Hiraeth? Or had they been mates long before the captain had been a captain?

The circumstances of that love hardly mattered, Leo supposed. Seafaring men would look the other way over liaisons like that at sea, a port in any storm, and all that jazz. Once they were back on dry land though, they’d be expected to act like proper gentlemen and court a young woman and get married.

It must have been a heartbreaking day for both men when Ezekiel made his vows to Lettie. It would have been equally heartbreaking to Lettie if she’d known her husband’s true inclinations and that his heart would never truly be hers.

Even though Leo would never allow himself to fall in love, at least he had the freedom to do so and be open about it. Hades, he could kiss Griff in the center of downtown Hyannis if he wanted to and no one would try to stop them or throw them in jail for it.

“Earth to Leo?” Landon sang out.

Leo snorted. “Sorry I was lost in space.”

“We saw that.” Henry laughed. “Kimmie wanted to know your drink order, so we got you a Cosmo.”

Leo smacked a kiss against the side of Henry’s head. “Thank you, honey child.”

Henry laughed and wiped Leo’s kiss of his cheek.

“What’s on your mind? Griff? Or your time-traveling doppelgangers?” Drake asked.

Leo shook his head. “It’s unbelievable how much Griff and I look like Zeke and Jeremiah, isn’t it?”

“Reminds me of something out of Doctor Who,” Landon said.

“I was gonna say that too.
